The Hero 360 is an Interesting Fountain Pen with some Shortcomings

 HERO 360° (001) FOUNTAIN PEN

What makes this pen special?

If you have ever written with a fountain pen, you'll know that for the most part, you have to hold the pen in one (or two) ways in order to get the pen to write. And for some people, writing in such a way can be limiting to their mobility. So, as a solution to this niche issue, the brand HERO decided to design the HERO 360 aka (001). The nib on this pen allows you to at "any" angle or hand position.

The Nib

The intention of this design was to allow people to write at whatever position and angle they most preferred. So... to do this, the nib had to be designed in a specific way. The tipping material is ground in a relatively neutral way such that the flow of ink is never compromised. Along with that, is the slits. Most fountain pens have a single slit to allow for the tines to split thus allowing ink to flow. This pen appears to have two slits that are perpendicular to each other. Now onto the feed. rather than having one feed underneath the nib like most fountain pens, this nib features two overfeeds on either side of the nib.

Pros
Firstly, this pen does exactly what it was intended to do, it allows you to write at any angle. Also, because the tipping is so rounded you get a consistent line width no matter which way you hold the pen. As you will see in the writing sample, even in the "Heavy Pressure" sample you can see it only looks marginally different than the "Normal Writing". Lastly is the price, coming in at only $5, you can get a pretty nice pen.

Cons
A review would not be complete without the cons. Firstly, the pen is not very comfortable. The combination of the straightness of the grip section and the hardness of the metal makes it a pen that is not very comfortable. It seems that in trying to make this pen comfortable for everyone, they simultaneously made it comfortable for no one. Also, this pen comes with an aerometric filling system rather than a cartridge or converter. Some people really dislike this, but I don't mind it.
